What if it doesn’t spark joy… AND you can’t get rid of it?

Marie Kondo made huge, beautiful waves in the world when she suggested that we should only keep things that “Spark Joy” in our lives!

I love this concept and agree with her philosophy for the most part, but what happens to the items that don’t spark joy but that you can’t get rid of? And beyond that, what do you do with items that cause you great pain or reignite trauma that you can’t get rid of yet?

Let’s be really real here. Some items require action or emotional processing that you just may not have the bandwidth for… AND you still want and need to get organized. So what do you do with those items? I call these items landmines.

Landmines are items that remind you of a large action you aren’t ready to face or objects that remind you of a painful or traumatic situation. Managing your landlines will let you get organized and experience a home that feels good to you, all without having to torture yourself.

Watch this short video to learn what to do with the items that don’t spark joy in your life. It is possible to give yourself the gift of processing these challenging items on your timetable and in your way with a few simple actions.

If you feel moved, share what items don’t spark joy but that you can’t release in your life. You are not alone, we all have them.

Wishing you a beautiful, landmine free day today!
