Organizing Books: How to Create the Home Library of Your Dreams

Nerd alert! Can we talk about books please?

I was reading this weekend when I was hit with the inspiration for the kind of library I want to create in my life. I’ve literally never had that inspiration before and now organizing books is all I can think about!

After paring down almost all of my books during my last move, I have started to finally realize what kind of books I want to have in my home. I feel like I’m truly understanding how to create the home library of my dreams.

What we surround ourselves with shapes our lives and the books we choose are no different.

Take a peek at this short video to learn how I’m transforming with my books and what 2 questions you need to ask yourself to become skilled at organizing books and develop a library that supports, inspires and serves you.

Great thoughts and advice! I too carried around so many books through so many moves. I had an epiphany one day when I realized it would be ok to let some of the books go because they were outdated. Those books were some of my college text books and they represented a very important time frame to me. I was proud to see them on my bookshelf as they represented a time in my life when I chose to go to college and finish my degree. I was thirsty for knowledge and I was thirsty to move up the ladder in my career. Years later I donated the books and it felt good to “lose the weight” while knowing that I was ready to move on. Now I read for pleasure and I completely understand what you mean by surrounding yourself with books and what that can share with people. So many great conversations have begun when someone looks at my books, especially if we’ve read the same one.
