De-Cluttering Love

I never should have dated him. The signs were there from the start. But something inside of me wasn’t willing to see the truth.

I overlooked all the signs that I usually see in other people’s homes.

The single nightstand…that showed perfectly that he wasn’t ready for a relationship. The pillow choices (one great pillow for himself and 3 horrible, stained, icky ones from 1987)…showing he would give himself the best and that I would be an afterthought. And the painting…

It was a giant Klimt print of a couple embracing under a tree as a woman glared at them jealously from afar.

Oh, that f-ing painting should have told me everything I needed to know.

And, yet, I was blind to it.

That one painting told the story of how our relationship would unfold. It was all right there, in his bedroom, the first time I laid eyes on it.

Love is blind.

We go in, full of hope, selectively seeing what we want. And then we try to build a life on top of that incomplete perspective.

Often we don’t see the truth until we’re too deep to easily shift things.

I’ve done this more times than I can count.

I had the power to see that he wasn’t ready for a relationship. And I didn’t. And yet, I refuse to beat myself up for it. If I spend time beating myself up, it will only cause me pain and delay me taking action in the right direction.

The painful chapters of our lives can be setbacks, but they can also be incredible opportunities for growth and expansion.

The truth is that I can use this information to call in more love and partnership in my life. And I did. Thanks to that challenging relationship, I’m now in an incredible partnership with a phenomenal man. And I couldn’t be happier.

It was the best mistake I ever made.

How you set your home up, sets the tone for the kind of love you manifest and experience in your life.

With intentional organizing, you can:

  • Manifest love and partnership through organizing your physical spaces
  • Take a temperature check on how ready you are for love
  • Change the type of partners you’re attracting
  • Know if someone you’re thinking about dating is actually ready or not
  • See the places you need healing in order to let more love into your life

For my coupled friends, there are also things you can do to enhance the romance and love in your life and partnership.

You are constantly changing and your relationship is too.

If you’re not getting the results you want, maybe it’s time to change the recipe.
