The Connection Between Clutter and the Body (That No One Talks About)

There’s something I’ve seen again and again—and maybe you’ve noticed it too…

Your clutter and your body? They might be speaking the same language.

I’ve seen it in my clients.

I’ve felt it in my own life.

The late-night online shopping spree. The pantry you avoid. The pile of clothes that don’t fit.

We all have our versions. And more often than not, it’s not about being “lazy” or “messy.” It’s about something deeper.

For some of us, clutter protects. It creates space between us and a world that feels too fast, too demanding, too unsafe.

For others, it’s a way to hold on—to a past version of ourselves, to grief, to dreams we haven’t figured out how to let go of.

And sometimes… it’s the thing we can control when everything else feels like a dumpster fire.

I’ve talked with clients who feel at war with their body and their home at the same time.

And I’ve watched the tiniest act of organizing become a turning point—

a drawer cleared,

a shelf reset,

a pile finally released.

When the world feels heavy (and lately, it really has), organizing might seem like the last thing that matters.

But I think it’s the opposite.

Organizing is one of the most grounded, loving, and radical things we can do.

It’s not about pretending everything is okay. It’s about creating a little space to breathe, to see clearly, to come back to ourselves.

It’s about saying:

“I may not be able to fix the world today, but I can care for my space. I can care for my body. I can choose clarity, even now.”

That’s why I’m taught a special class in the  Chaos to Calm Organizing Community. We dove deep into this exact conversation—the one your space and body have been trying to have with you for years.

In this live class, we talked about:

  • How clutter and body struggles mirror each other
  • Why it’s not about “stuff” or “weight,” but safety, protection, and power
  • Small, doable actions that help you move from freeze to flow

This isn’t about fixing yourself or making your house Pinterest-worthy.

It’s about listening—to your space, your body, and the part of you that’s ready to feel clear and strong again.

If you’ve been feeling stuck in your space or body (or just craving some clarity), I’d love to have you with us.

You’re not behind. You’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

And this class might be the next step you didn’t know you needed.
