Self-Care Practices to Help You Get Organized

Self-Care Practices to Help You Get Organized

One of the most annoying things I do in my organizing sessions is to ask my clients to breathe. Mind you, I’m not trying to be annoying. But when people are dealing with the many layers of stress, anxiety, and shame that are layered in their clutter, they tend to hold their breath.

If we’re not breathing, we’re increasing the stress in our bodies and minds. This makes organizing so much more challenging and frustrating to navigate.

Sometimes we don’t need to work harder, faster, or with more intensity. Instead, we need to stop and breathe instead.

Organizing is a holistic healing journey. It’s not just about getting organized. It’s also about creating a safe space within ourselves so that we can experience safety in our homes and lives.

It starts from within.

That’s why in the Chaos to Calm Community, we focus on more than just organizing. We also practice many other kinds of modalities to make sure that we’re calming the chaos within our minds, as well as our spaces.

Kumari Sky is a fantastic Yoga Nidra practitioner who is coming to guide us through a powerful Yoga Nidra practice.

If you’ve never heard of Yoga Nidra, you’re not alone. I had never heard of it until a couple of years ago, and now it’s a mainstay of my self-care practices.

Yoga Nidra is an effortless guided meditation that takes you on a journey into a profound state of deep rest.

The practice slows down your brainwaves and moves your nervous system into the parasympathetic realm of rest and digest.

The practice has many benefits, including soothing anxiety, lowering stress levels, releasing tension in the body, helping with sleep issues, and promoting clarity and focus.

Adding self-care practices, such as Yoga Nidra to your organizing toolkit can help support the physical organizing progress you’re making, while giving you tools to face the stressful emotions that are hiding in the chaos.

Creating a life of clarity, organization, and peace starts from within.
