A quick reminder if today feels noisy, busy, or overwhelming…
It’s natural to want to “do more” when we feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed. But often, that doesn’t help us be more productive. In fact, sometimes it makes things worse.
You don’t need to do more. You need to do less…on purpose.
There’s a simple concept that drives my day-to-day task list. It’s called Pareto’s principle. It says that:
20% of your efforts yields 80% of your results.
What that means is that only a small portion of what’s on your task list will actually help you achieve your goals.
The rest is often busywork, obligations we’ve inherited, and low-level tasks that feel urgent but don’t really move the needle.
When we try to “get it all done,” our focus gets fractured, our energy thins out, and our minds get noisy. That’s when everything starts to feel harder than it needs to be.
So today, I want you to take a quick break and ask yourself two questions:
- What are 1-3 essential tasks that deserve my attention today?
- What are 3-5 things I can remove from my plate today?
You don’t need to tackle everything on your plate or put out every fire. Instead, focus on the handful of things that actually matter.
Your job today isn’t to do everything on your list. It’s to mind your mind and give your focus to what truly counts.
That’s how you make the most progress and set yourself free.
