Letting Your True Self Shine Decluttering to Thrive and Grow
Over the last few months, I’ve been working through an intense lesson.
The lesson of not trying to manage how other people perceive me.
This is super uncomfortable for me. Because it means that if you think I’m a bit odd, or if you don’t like me…or, God forbid if I’m the villain of your story, I don’t try to change that.
I don’t justify my behavior, try to change your mind, or fight to be understood. I allow you to hold your perception, while I hold mine.
And I just BE. In all my glory. In all my weirdness. In all my Star-ness. ⭐️
It’s meant the death of former versions of myself that no longer feel authentic. It has also meant the release of many relationships in my life where being my authentic self wasn’t really welcome.
Now, that’s not to say that I don’t work on myself. Or that I’m not willing to evolve with the people in my life. It just means that I will no longer silently contort myself for other people’s comfort.
As a recovering people pleaser, who learned to survive using a Fawn Trauma Response, this has been no easy feat. I have spent most of my life trying to create a sense of safety within me by being a version of myself that other people would like.
But, if I’m honest, this was self-abandonment. And in the end, I always felt alone and like a fraud. I’m not able or willing to do that to myself anymore.
Decluttering is about so much more than just getting rid of the excess stuff in our lives.
It’s also about getting rid of the behaviors and belief systems that cause chaos and disharmony within ourselves.
And I have to say, I think this form of decluttering is more impactful (and important) than any home project you may have around the house.
Much of our clutter exists because we are hiding from ourselves or others. The more you can stand strongly in the truth of who you are, the less you will need clutter to hide in.
Is there a mindset or behavior that you want to declutter today? You’re so not alone on this journey. Please know that whatever you’re releasing from your life, I’m here cheering you on!
Let’s work together to release the inner clutter so there’s more space for you to shine and thrive!
