How To Setup Organizing Systems Your Future Self Will Love

Did you know that most people organize from a place of panic?

For most people, the whole time they’re organizing, they feel super stressed. And the whole process is fueled by agitating thoughts and feelings…

“This pile is driving me nuts.”
“I can’t think with this mess.”
“I just want this out of my sight!”

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

Clutter is overstimulating. It’s loud. It’s distracting. 🌪️

And many times, it’s the thing that’s keeping you from focusing or getting things done.

But here’s what I want you to remember…

Organizing isn’t just about making your space look better right now. It’s about making life easier later.

Because if you’re only focused on putting things “away” (and getting them out of your sight), you’re not thinking about how your future self is going to find them the next time you need them.

And that’s where most organizing systems fall apart.

Instead of asking “Where can I put this?”  Ask “Where would I look for this the next time I need it?”

It’s normal to want to calm your current clutter stress by shoving things into your Room of Doom or that old Trader Joe’s bag.

But instead, I want you to think strategically and look out for “Future You.” 💭

How can you organize and arrange the things in your life to support you in the highest and best way?

That’s the shift.

It’s not about doing it “right” or getting it out of your sight today.

It’s about making it easy for the next version of you…the one who’s going to come back later and open that drawer or bin or closet and wonder what the heck you were thinking.

Organizing isn’t about speed. It’s not about cleaning stuff up so you can stop looking at it.

It’s about creating systems that actually work because they’re based on how you think, how you live, and how you find things.

That’s what helps your future self to feel supported instead of stressed.

Organizing is a gift you give to the version of you who shows up next.

Future You is going to love this!
