Transforming Doubt into Strength and Harmony

Awakening Intuition: Transforming Doubt into Strength and Harmony

Have you ever heard that Cherokee story about two wolves? A grandfather tells his grandson about a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is evil. The other good. The grandson asks, “Which wolf wins?” The grandfather replied, “The one that you feed.” 🐺

What we give our attention to grows. We have the ability to grow our inner critic, or to starve it out and give our attention to something else. Something that will create strength, harmony, and clarity within us, no matter the state of our homes, lives, or the world around us.

That something is intuition. We’ve all got it, and the more we use it, the more powerful it becomes. If the inner critic is the enemy of organization, intuition is the fuel that propels it forward.

Intuition is not some airy-fairy concept that is only for people crunching on granola while meditating eight hours a day. In fact, the US Military has invested millions of dollars researching intuition to help their soldiers to respond to situations without consciously analyzing the situation.

Every person has intuition. It’s physically built into who you are. Intuition is the actual psychological process where the brain uses environmental cues (and past experiences) to make decisions.

Now, this process happens so quickly that you may not even notice it’s happening, but it is, and it’s quite impactful. In fact, it has even been suggested that people’s intuition often arrives at better decisions than the part of our brain which makes deliberate decisions.

The good news is that you have intuition, and it’s already happening. Now we just need to learn to hear it and separate it out from the other, less awesome voices in your head.

To get to know your intuition better, let’s first explore what intuition doesn’t sound or feel like:

  • Accusatory
  • Attacking
  • Brings up the past
  • Coercive
  • Constantly changes what it says
  • Critical
  • Highly emotional
  • Manipulative
  • Minimizes your experience and feelings
  • Urgent
  • Uses fear, lack, or scarcity
  • Clenching or discomfort in your body
  • Feelings of uncertainty or anxiety

When you hear thoughts or feel feelings that align with the above list, know that you’re probably dealing with the inner critic, ego, wounding, trauma responses, or fear.

Let’s dig into what your intuition does sound and feel like:

  • Absence of emotion when you receive the insight
  • Calm, simple, steady voice (more of a whisper than a scream)
  • Consistent – repeats itself gently as many times as you need
  • Confident or peaceful about your decision (even if it doesn’t make sense to others or isn’t logical)
  • Lucid dreams
  • Stays in the present
  • There is no coercion
  • Clarity and ease
  • Energized
  • Inspired and excited to take action
  • Light/peaceful physically and mentally
  • You have recurring thoughts, ideas, or inspiration (they will keep coming up until you act on them) – especially during more quiet, peaceful times
  • You see repeating symbols or patterns around you (objects, music, dreams, numbers, etc.)
  • You start to see opportunities appear around you

When you experience these sensations, rest assured that you are in the magical flow of your intuition. From this sense of knowing, you can take powerful action and make decisions that are for your highest good.

Tapping into your intuition is one of the most powerful natural skills you possess. Take a deep breath and lean into that calm, steady voice within.
