Organizing Projects to make Back-to-School time easier than ever
As summer winds down, it’s time to get ready to send the kids back to school. ✏️🍎💻
One of the best things you can do for yourself when it comes to getting back-to-school ready is to do a few organizing projects to help you set yourself up for success. There are a few workhorse spaces that will be game-changers for you once school is back in session.
Here is a quick video about setting yourself up for success this Back-to-School Season.
No time to watch the video? Here are the high-level takeaways:
Pantry
Refresh your pantry by eliminating anything expired, or items that you no longer use or like. This is also a great time to re-think your kid’s snack system. The kids are older, more developmentally advanced, and better able to fend for themselves than they have been in the past. Create systems that allow them to get their own healthy snacks. This will take some of the domestic labor off of you and empower them to take care of themselves.
Laundry Room
The laundry room is one of the most important and frequently used spaces in the house. Go into your laundry room and evaluate what’s working and what needs to be updated. Do you need more hampers? A step ladder to reach high shelves? How about a new system for storing cleaning supplies? What would make this space function better for you? Instead of organizing the whole space, do a few micro-projects to help improve daily use and functionality.
Entryway
The entryway is your launching pad into the world, as well as a landing pad at the end of the day. An entryway isn’t necessarily the front door, it might be your garage door or a mud room. The entryway is whatever room you enter and leave the house. Ask yourself what you can add to this space to help it be more functional and supportive of you when you enter and leave your home. Do you need a trash can for junk mail? Or hooks for backpacks? Maybe you want to add a beautiful painting or some family pictures so that you feel a sense of joy when you come home. Refreshing this space to feel more beautiful and supportive is a great way to change the vibe of your whole home.
Set a goal to make one small update in each of these areas to help you prep for the year ahead. Small changes make a big difference.
